INTEGRITY AND EXPERIENCE
In my first three years as a commissioner, it is clearly evident that I understand large budgets and recognize where money can be removed without reducing the accustomed levels of service. Make no mistake, it has not been easy but then neither is running a business or household in today's economy with so many rising costs.
It is this proven experience, as a fiscally conservative county commissioner, combined with my 17 plus years of law enforcement background that makes me eminently qualified to address a sheriff's budget that has had very few significant reductions over the years.
With the economy and property values continuing to decline, unemployment in double digits and social security colas frozen for the past two years, we cannot continue to spend as lavishly as in the past. I really believe it is time for a fresh set of eyes to review the Sheriff's Office budget and policies.
